Tortoise & Plume Mahjong Set — Matte Back Edition (Discounted Second)

This is a variation on our Tortoise & Plume set — same hand-illustrated peacock, pagoda, and lotus garden faces you know from the original, but from a different production run of the tile back. Instead of the glossy, richly mottled tortoiseshell back the original is known for, this back is finished in matte with a softer, less defined pattern — noticeably less striking in hand than the original.

Priced as a discounted second specifically because of that back finish. The tiles are brand new and fully playable — this is a cosmetic difference on the back only, not a functional flaw. If you love the Tortoise & Plume face designs but don't mind (or don't mind saving on) a plainer back, this is that set.

Flip the tiles over on the original and you'd see a warm, glossy tortoiseshell finish; here, the back is matte with a muted, less pronounced mottling — pictured honestly so you know exactly what you're getting.

A regal peacock perches on the Bam suit, its feathers trailing into bamboo stalks framed by a delicate pagoda bridge. The Crak suit runs soft pink hand-calligraphy numerals with a crowned lion-face character tile. Pastel pinwheel dots in pink, teal, and green carry through to a teal pagoda gate, while three lotus garden scenes bloom across the flower tiles and two illustrated bird Jokers complete the set.
